You would be amazed at the kind of impact a makeover hair cut could have on you, how it can transform your look, your confidence and your outlook on life. Confidence is power!

It is so important to shake things up in our lives every once in a while. Life is not good, when lived in a rut. A life makeover can begin with a great haircut or transformation in color, as simple or silly as it may seem, is an immediate way to make a powerful change, not just in your look but in your life. After all, one change always leads to another, and then another.

Change equals transformation.

Knowing you want to transform, change up your hair, your look does not mean you know exactly how to do it. But if you have a great relationship with a very talented, experienced and tasteful hairstylist – a real hair artist, then dare to say

“Go ahead – have at it - do what you will and make me and my hair look incredible!”

Seriously - take the plunge. Your fabulous hair stylist knows all of the latest techniques to make your transformation not just gorgeous but on the cutting edge of fashion.

Golden ombre, Burnt orange, bleach toned, tiger eye are just a few of the latest trends in hair color. Click here for more ideas on cutting edge trends for 2018 in hair color

However, and this is very important, you must communicate as you go!

Discuss your outcome. Always bring pictures- lot and lots of pictures of what you think looks good. Even if the cuts you are choosing are not right for your hair type or face shape, they still give your stylist lots of clues about what you like.

Have a conversation about the length of the hair you might want, the texture you might want, and how good-or terrible- you are at styling hair. Discuss what aspects of your lifestyle are important when it comes to taking a drastic step. For example, if you work in a conservative office, you may not want your stylist to change your color to something too flashy. (That advice applies to men AND women.) Make sure you know (and purchase) the kinds of hair products you will need to make the style work.

Don’t be afraid to give ideas, express your dislikes or challenge your hair stylist’s suggestions. It is your hair.

At the same time you are asking for THEIR input for a very good reason. A real hair artist (like Thomas Ebbitt of Annapolis' House of Ebbit Salon) is going to be able to look at you and see what kinds of hair styles work best with your features, your shape of head.

Without some fresh input, you might just choose the same old look. And if your stylist can't come up with something both new and attractive, consider trying out someone else.

You want your stylist to be an artist, with you as the masterpiece! You also want your stylist to be up on the current trends and technologies. An important part of creating a great new look is staying contemporary. With the best salons, the most classic looks are being created using cutting edge methods, and they look all the better for it.

So be clear about your preferences, but listen with an open mind. Show them pictures of your vision and then let them tell you theirs. Chat about your insecurities and chat about the possibilities for your hair - and then close your eyes, relax, and have some fun!

You don’t have to do anything drastic or permanent to get a big boost from your makeover. But sometimes discovering how someone else envisions you is inspiring. For women this means you can dip dye or do tone-on-tone color; you can have ombre color or lowlights or highlights or sparkle lights. You can glaze, do semi-permanent or permanent dyes.

For men this means exploring not just a change in in hair length, or beard, but lessons on how to style it. It may mean some drastic hair color changes as well

Most importantly, remember there is no sense in doing something if you are not going to do it well. Make sure you have a great stylist, with whom you communicate well. Make sure your stylist truly understands your particular hair issues. And then have some fun, take a chance, and transform your hair into the best possible you.
